Critical review of haemolytic disease of the newborn Essay

Critical review of haemolytic disease of the newborn - Essay ExampleThe mothers tolerant system sees the babys Rh supreme red blood cells as foreign. Just as when bacteria invade the body, the immune system responds by developing antibodies to fight and destroy these foreign cells. The mothers immune system then keeps the antibodies in case the foreign cells appear again, even in a future pregnancy. The mother is now Rh sensitized. In a first pregnancy, Rh sensitization is not likely. Usually it only becomes a problem in a future pregnancy with another Rh corroborative baby. During that pregnancy, the mothers antibodies cross the placenta to fight the Rh positive cells in the babys body. As the antibodies destroy the red blood cells, the baby can become sick. This is called erythroblastosis fetalis during pregnancy. In the newborn, the condition is called hemolytic disease of the newborn. (Vucinovic M, Jadric H, Karelovic D, Roje D, Haspl-Hundric Z, Hrgovic Z, Vucinovic Z, 2004).He molytic disease of the newborn (HDN) occurs due to maternal IgG antibodies crossing the placenta thereby producing hemolysis mainly due to Rh, ABO and Kell groups. A dictatorial approach to the Rh HDN involves an obstetric history of previous isoimmunized baby, timing and regular monitoring of maternal Rh antibodies and pigment assay of amniotic fluid. Timely closing regarding in utero transfusion and early termination of pregnancy based on the maternal monitoring has radically improved the outcome of these babies. Antenatal prophylaxis with anti D has resulted in great reduction in the magnitude of Rh problem. The fetal blood sampling and in-utero intravenous transfusions has made it possible for almost 100% pick of isoimmunized pregnancies without hydrops. Alternative methods--IVIG and plasma exchange are still of limited application. ABO HDN though common is not a serious form of disease and paneling not warrants invasive antenatal monitoring. Anti-Kell is found in patients h aving received multiple transfusions and the rapid progress of hemolysis in them may not allow much(prenominal) systematic follow up as in Rh HDN. Childrens Rights in Education - Essay ExampleChildren are a symbol of the continuity of monastic order, and our hope and faith that the world goes on. though parents and guardians are often seen as role models for children to emulate in society, as they grow up to the realities of the world around them, it is no less important to greet that children too must have a right to voice their feelings about how they feel, what they want and what they do not prefer in regard to physical, emotional, psychological, educational and mental development. Organizations like the UNICEF, OHCHR and others have promoted the cause of childrens rights through programs like Right to Voice, the Junior 8 Summit, the Childrens Climate Forum and the Right to Know Initiative, covering everything from global climate change to knowledge about AIDS and how to prevent HIV infections. They believe that involving children in these initiatives will not only make them to a greater extent aware of these important i ssues but in time turn them into emerging leaders and developers in society. Invariably, childrens right to voice will have a visible impact on their right to education and vice versa. Discussion What does the right to voice mean for children? How can we address the rights to voice of the child to be heard? These and related questions will form the basis for this essay. Our children are our leaders of tomorrow and listening to them and giving them a voice in decisions impacting the future of their society will certainly reap dividends by making them aware and more responsible about these issues. It is also important to fight for the rights of the child in closed(a) societies where they are suppressed and controlled through age old hierarchical traditions. The UK and Northern Ireland ratified the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child on 16 December 1991. This entry summarizes no less than 42 tenets that must be followed by every country accepting it furthermore ther e is also a responsibility to indoctrinate schools, teachers, parents and guardians on these matters (OHCHR, 1990, 1). According to Article 2 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, it is expected that The child, for the full and harmonious development of his or her personality, should grow up in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding. The child should be fully prepared to live an individual life in society in the spirit of peace, dignity, tolerance, freedom, comparison and solidarity (UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, 1990, 1). Unfortunately, due to discordant social evils prevalent across different parts of the world, there are organized efforts to exploit children in various ways, ranging from child labour to slavery to prostitution. Childrens Rights Laws have been created to deal with cases involving juvenile delinquency, ensuring due process for children involved in the criminal justice system, allocating appropriate way and effective rehabilitative services, providing for the care and protection for children under State care and ensuring proper health care advocacy and education for all children regardless of their origin, race, gender, disabilities or abilities. Explain the rationale behind antibody usage in common laboratory Essay

Explain the rationale behind antibody usage in common laboratory assays such as ELISA, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, - set about ExampleMany clinical laboratory tests incorporate antibodies beca custom of their unique feature in identifying and singling out among very much interrelated antigens (Estridge & Reynolds 2011). Any test concerning an antibody-antigen reaction is referred to as a serological test (Kudesia 2006, p. 197). These tests make use of the reality that a good number of viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic illnesses bring forth accomplished antibody rejoinders. Therefore, denomination of antibodies to infection agents in patients samples helps in the discovery of infections such as influenza, HIV, hepatitis, and rubella (Estridge & Reynolds 2011). ... Immunological tests make use of monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies. Antibodies of one class with specificity to further one epitope are called monoclonal antibodies. These antibodies are derived from a single cell line hence the name monoclonal. They are manufactured in the laboratories, making up the key reagents in most commercially available immunodiagnostic supplies. Polyclonal antibodies, on the other hand, are assortments of antibodies generated by many cell lines. These commercially available antibodies make use of a cloning process during their manufacture. The advantage of cloning antibodies is that it results in higher specificity in the antibodies. Both monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies can be produced from living organisms and cell cultures in the laboratory (Buchwalow & Bocker 2010). Scientists use mice, rats, and rabbits to clone antibodies. Antibody cloning is the production of antibodies from both living and non-living sources. The first step of monoclonal antibody production in rats involves injecting the rat with an antigen that elicits an immune response by production of antibody-forming cells. These antibody forming cells (B-cells) are isolated from the o rganism. The B-cells then fuse with tissue cultured tumor cells to form hybridomas (Buchwalow & Bocker 2010). The hybridomas then undergo screening for antibody production later on which they are cloned into many hybridomas. The final step is the isolation of monoclonal antibodies from the hybridomas. Experience shows that monoclonal antibodies from rabbits exhibit more specificity than antibodies from rats and mice (Buchwalow & Bocker 2010). Measurement of immune responses following an

Further, despite the support of what the website provides with works of great researchers, little is provided to tie such information with artifacts and painting shown in the website. This leaves a gap that can challenge information provided on Americas history.
